“La pitoune” ride at the La Ronde amusement park opened in 1967, in time for Expo 67. It was one of the only rides from that era still in operation, and many generations have fond memories of it. Its name in French (“La Pitoune”) and theme are also connected to a historically important industry in Quebec: log driving. The Six Flags group, owner of La Ronde, closed the ride for the 2017 season and has yet to announce its ultimate fate.
