From 1911 to 1930, the theatre presented light comedies, vaudeville, and motion pictures. In the 1930s, Henri Poitras (also known as Henri Dauvilliers) managed the theatre and maintained its French-language programming. In 1939, France Film acquired the venue, continuing to focus on francophone theatre productions.

In 1976, Télé-Métropole converted the Arcadia into a television studio. The building is currently occupied by the MATV (TVA) studio.

In November 2023, following significant staff cuts, it was announced that the Québecor Group, owner of TVA, planned to divest some of its real estate assets and consolidate its employees at the Journal de Montréal offices.

TVA officially vacated the premises in 2025. No new use has been determined yet.
