The creek that runs for 200 meters on the Meadowbrook Golf Course in the borough of Lachine is one of the last visible sections of the historic St. Pierre River. It is fed by a storm drain upstream where the St. Pierre River was channeled. The collector is contaminated by cross-connections; it was diverted temporarily and only in dry weather following a Superior Court decision in 2018 in order to reduce contamination of the creek and to allow for the correction of faulty connections. However, the detour resulted in the creek drying up.

On January 14, 2021, the Court of Appeal upheld the Superior Court’s decision and ordered the City of Montreal to cease all discharges into St. Pierre creek and to ensure its cleanup. However, this victory is bittersweet, as the Court proposed diverting and channeling the creek; while this would solve the problem of spills, it would eventually lead to its drying up and the loss of the last witness of the ancient St. Pierre River that once flowed from Mount Royal to the Old Port, which is what Les Amis du parc Meadowbrook fears.

In 2023, Les Amis du parc Meadowbrook submitted a request to have the St. Pierre River designated as a protected site, which was denied by the Ministry of Culture and Communications in 2024.
