La Pizzaiolle is located in a 1950’s diner building. Its streamline architecture is typical and iconic.

The restaurant closed in the spring of 2020 and the land on which the building is located is currently for sale. However, the deed of sale makes no mention of the building, and we are concerned that this unique building will disappear following the transaction.

According to La Pizzaiolle’s website, the diner originated in Massachusetts. It was an abandoned restaurant near Boston that was brought to Montreal in 1993 after many twists and turns. The metal structure was then restored and adapted to its new use.

In the spring of 2023, the land was sold, and plans were made for a mixed-use commercial and residential development.

In 2024, the building was dismantled in two parts and moved to Drummondville. In the meantime, the owner is looking for a site in Montreal where the diner could be reinstalled. On the former restaurant site, construction of the new building began that same year.
