The building is one of the last remaining representatives of the Saint-Léonard-de-Port-Maurice parish, which was incorporated as a city in 1916 and later became a borough of Montreal during the municipal mergers of 2002.

The structure is believed to have been built around 1885 and was identified as a building of exceptional heritage value in the Urban Heritage Assessment of the Borough of Saint-Léonard, published in 2005.

Unfortunately, the house had been vacant for several years, and its overall condition was steadily deteriorating. A fire occurred on November 3, 2017, and the building has been boarded up ever since. There were concerns that this witness to Saint-Léonard’s early history would fall victim to demolition through neglect and abandonment.

The house was ultimately demolished in 2023. A new residential building was constructed on the site.
