Contributor Josée-Anne Simard applauds the City of Montréal for issuing a Statement of Heritage Interest for this property in September 2019. The statement covers not only the Angus Paterson Coach House, but the entire corner lot at Rue De la Montagne and Rue Sherbrooke West, also the site of the former Standard Life head office building, which dates from the 1960s.

This recognition will help inform the current or future property owners of the site’s importance should they plan an eventual conservation or repurposing project. This built heritage site is an extremely interesting one, as it speaks to two different periods of Montréal’s urban history.
