Property is associated with J. W. McConnell, a pending national historic person. The location has been identified as a site with an archaeological significance. The administration of Dorval is considering a request from a developer to build 30 homes on the site with each lot having 8,000 square feet.
In 2017, the City of Dorval attempted to purchase the McConnell Woods for $15.1 million, and several citizens signed a petition to preserve the land. However, the real estate developer won the sale, which closed at $15.5 million. The site included a Victorian house (Ashburton House) that was demolished between 2018 and 2019.
