It seems that there will be an update of the inventory for buildings built after 1920, during the year 2022. Normally, according to our sources, it should be included in the next mandate to update the inventory, and then integrated into the City’s inventory if its heritage rating warrants it. Until then, we hope that the current owner, the Brivia Group, a real estate development company with numerous projects in the Montreal metropolitan area, will not demolish it.
It is currently in a state of neglect and needs major renovations. Fortunately, the house is located at the edge of the heritage zone of the area, so it is in a way protected. The structure is made of wood and the exterior walls are brick. The property consists of a very large lot of 1,635.3 square meters, cleared at the back and front. This property certainly has historical interest that deserves to be showcased. This is a unique opportunity for the City of Laval to demonstrate its interest in the built heritage of the area by demanding from the current owner a rapid intervention plan to conserve and restore this majestic house, a witness to the development and history of the Sainte-Rose district.
