These are two old residential buildings located at 1072 and 1074 Saint-Dominique Street (between De la Gauchetière and René-Lévesque), and they have appeared on city maps since 1846. The houses feature cut-stone façades. The land and these two buildings (as well as a third one on St-Laurent Street) were sold for a potential “new development.” The lots are zoned to allow buildings of up to six storeys. As of June 2019, no project had been announced and no demolition permit application had been submitted.

In 2022, following the emergence of several real estate development projects that threatened the heritage character of Chinatown and fueled land speculation, the City of Montreal initiated steps to amend the zoning by-law in order to limit building height and density in the area. During public consultations, the owners of the building submitted a brief as part of the consultation process on the proposed amendments to the Chinatown Urban Plan, protesting the new measures. Nevertheless, the changes came into effect in December 2022, and the floor area ratio was reduced from 6 to 4.

Since then, no redevelopment project has been proposed, and the buildings have remained vacant.
