In 1913, the Shomrim Laboker congregation acquired this residence and converted it into a synagogue. Stained glass windows in the interior and the brick Star of David on the façade are reminders of this use.

In 1950, the community moved to the Côte-des-Neiges – Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, at the corner of Westbury and Plamondon avenues. The building was sold to an egg and dairy products merchant from the Jewish community.

At the turn of the 1980s, the École de mimes corporels also moved into the building.

Vacant for several years, the building had deteriorated rapidly: by 2020, half of the brick Star of David on the façade had disappeared.

In 2023, major work was carried out on the former synagogue. The façade was restored to its original appearance, highlighting the Star of David integrated into the elegant red brickwork.
