Once one of the most beautiful buildings on Sherbrooke Street East, it has been visibly deteriorating before our eyes for over 10 years. The second-floor door is exposed to the elements and pests. The brickwork has been removed from one side of the building, and the wall restoration appears to have been abandoned. The building is currently abandoned, and if the situation continues, demolition seems inevitable.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, a developer purchased the building along with adjacent lots with the intent of constructing a five-storey building next to the \u00c9douard-Masson House, whose fa\u00e7ades were supposed to be restored. In 2013, during drilling work, the new owner discovered that the basement was filled with contaminated backfill. The property was sold again in 2018 to Gestion XX, which has not yet submitted any development proposal. \u00c9douard Masson, a well-known lawyer and jurist, worked alongside Camillien Houde.
