It was built by the Fabrique to house the beadle and his family.<\/p>\n<p>The house was likely constructed in 1837 and later expanded in the 1890s, notably with the addition of a dormer gable, transforming the attic into a livable floor.<\/p>\n<p>La Maison du Bedeau is a fine example of a village home inspired by Neo-Gothic architecture. It follows the traditional style with its two-sided metal roof. The exterior wooden walls are also noteworthy.<\/p>\n<p>The house was occupied by the Fabrique\u2019s employee (beadle\/sacristan) until 1971, when the Fabrique sold the property to Carmen Chinoine, whose family still owns it.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the house has needed maintenance and has been put up for sale several times. As of 2022, it remained on the market. Its prime location makes it a sought-after property. Several real estate developers have expressed interest in demolishing the building. The bylaw is in progress and a notice of motion has been filed.<\/p>\n<p>The house is covered by the inventory made by the municipality of Beloeil, updated in 2022.
