The church is modern in design, with a reinterpretation of traditional forms such as the ogival arches and the traditional cross-shaped plan. The interior of the church is also noteworthy, notably the stained glass windows, the furniture and the works of art. A dominant element of the institutional core of Saint-Michel, the Saint-Bernardin-de-Sienne Church stands out from its neighborhood by its monumentality accentuated by the landscape characteristics of its site and its assertive modern architectural facture.&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/ville.montreal.qc.ca\/pls\/portal\/docs\/PAGE\/PATRIMOINE_URBAIN_FR\/MEDIA\/DOCUMENTS\/%C9GLISE%20SAINT-BERNARDIN%20%C9NONC%C9%20FINAL.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00c9nonc\u00e9 de l&#8217;int\u00e9r\u00eat patrimonial de l&#8217;\u00e9glise Saint-Bernardin-de-Sienne, Ville de Montr\u00e9al, 2014 &#8211; In French<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>On January 27, 2019, a fire destroyed the rectory and the roof of the building collapsed on itself. It was considered a total loss. 3 weeks later, on February 14, a second fire damaged the church; although quickly brought under control, evidence found at the scene suggested that it was an arson fire.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"226\">In December 2019, the church Christ en action \u00e9vang\u00e9lisation (C.A.E.) acquired the building.
